A Safe Space to Talk

A safe space to talk...

What is counselling?

Counselling is about listening to you and giving you the opportunity of working with a trained counsellor. You may have a particular problem that you would like to talk about or a general feeling that life could be better. Counselling provides a supportive, professional relationship that allows you to explore the difficulties that are affecting your capacity to lead a fulfilling life and to find the best choices for you.

What type of problem?

Anything that is holding you back. It could be depression, trouble at work, in the family, in relationships. It could be feelings caused by losing someone close, or having a baby, or breaking up. It could be abuse, or other causes of low self-esteem. Sometimes it is hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that is making you feel unhappy. Your counsellor will help you to do that.

How does it help?

Counselling gives you a safe space to talk in confidence on a one-to-one basis with your personal counsellor. You won't be judged or told what to do. You'll decide what you want to do to make your life better.

How much does it cost?

At Riverside we are committed to providing affordable counselling by ensuring that cost is not a barrier to accessing our service.

The fee for your initial consultation and subsequent sessions depends on your ability to pay, according to a sliding scale that is determined at your first appointment.

How do I make an appointment?

You can PHONE us on 07879 381 334, leaving a brief message with your name and contact details, or EMAIL us. To contact The Space, our counselling service for young people from age 12+, use the same phone number or EMAIL The Space directly. You will then be contacted to arrange an initial appointment for you to meet with one of our senior counsellors. This will give you an opportunity to find out more before you make any further commitment and to decide whether counselling and our service is right for you. If you decide to go ahead, you will be matched with an appropriate counsellor for regular counselling sessions, which last 50 minutes and take place at the same time and place each week.
