Step Out Campaign

Step Out for Riverside

Step Out for Riverside

We know that getting outside is great for both our mental and physical health. As Spring arrives, we would like to give you that reason for putting on your boots or trainers, opening your front door and getting out in the fresh air. We would like to invite you to ‘Step Out for Riverside.’

‘Step Out for Riverside’ is open to everyone and easy to join. It will help you to improve your health and well-being whilst supporting Riverside.

Here’s how it works….

How do I join in?

We want you to set your own goals so that it will really work for you. Do something that you enjoy or try something new. This could be a morning walk, 10,000 Steps a Day, a local bike ride, a family hike through the words, a 5km run or a longer challenge maybe along the Thames or in the Chiltern Hills.

You could do this on your own, with a friend or with family. It could be a regular part of your week or a one- off event. Step out and enjoy our local countryside. Please always follow current Covid guidelines.

We would like to encourage all ages to get involved. Please see our Step Out Schools Pack, that includes a poster, a sponsorship form and Teacher information.

How do I donate to support Riverside?

The best way to donate is through our Step Out Fundraising Page. You can also set up your own fundraising page, to share with friends and family by scrolling down and clicking on the ‘Start Fundraising’ fundraising button on our Step Out Fundaising page (link above).

You may want to set your own ‘Step Out Jar’ so every time you complete your goal you add to the jar and then make a donation at the end of our campaign. This could be through our fundraising page, a BACs transfer or cheque. For more details, please see our “Donating to Riverside” information leaflet.

We also have a downloadable sponsor form here.

When does it happen?

We are asking people to join our campaign throughout March and April. Our fundraising page will be open during this time. We hope that this maybe the start of your well-being journey and you continue to enjoy getting outside and really feel the benefits that it can bring.

How can track my progress?

There are lots of free downloadable apps that will help you reach your goal, for example “Map my walk” or “Strava“. We also have a downloadable Step Out Trackers you or your children can use.

We would love to hear from you. Why not share your stories and photos on our Facebook and Instagram pages?

Please follow current Covid Guidelines and stick to local walks and cycle routes accessible from your home.

What difference will our donation make?

A lot!! Your donation really does make a huge difference to the support we are able to provide. As a small charity we work hard to ensure that every penny you give will provide those people most in need, with the best counselling and highest quality care and support.

We are currently supporting 180 adults and young people every month across South Oxfordshire.

Your donation means that counselling is accessible to all.  Riverside are committed to providing affordable counselling by ensuring that cost is not a barrier to accessing our service. Fees are based on household income and your donation, along with grants and other fundraising, enables us to cover the full cost of running the service.
