The Saracen’s Head Pub on Greys Road in Henley raised £745 for Riverside Counselling Service during December by hosting Christmas events and fundraising initiatives.
They hosted a bingo night, pub quizzes, games and raffles as well as putting every pound from the pool table into the donation pots. The pub raised £596 which was then added to by the Brakspear’s Giving Back Fund that gives another 25p for every pound raised.
Landlords Samantha Pratt and Lucy Swinton said, “’We took over the pub last year and this was our first Christmas as the owners. We thought a great way to celebrate this would be to give back to our local community by raising some much-needed funds for a charity that does just this. We love the work Riverside does for this reason and this is why we chose them as the work they do in tackling mental health issues is so important and relevant now and the local community benefit enormously from their work.”
Chris Keating Marketing Manager at Brakspear said, “Brakspear are delighted to help our pubs when holding events and raising funds for charities dear to their heart. We are pleased that we can donate an additional 25% of the money raised by our pubs.”
Sophie Welling, CEO at Riverside Counselling Service said, “Thank you to Samantha and Lucy for choosing Riverside and to all their customers who supported the events and fundraising initiatives. This donation will go towards providing much-needed affordable counselling to those need.”
