Riverside Counselling were delighted to receive a cheque from The Henley College from their Christmas appeal this week for £437.
The cheque was presented by the Principal Simon Spearman and Student Union President Libby Robey at The Henley College to Riverside’s Chair of Trustees, Adrian Marsh.
The appeal was a collaborative effort across the college. Students took part in fundraising activities throughout the campus, with collection points set up by library staff to encourage donations. As part of the campaign, Riverside’s Chief Executive Officer, Sophie Wellings delivered an inspiring talk to Psychology students, sharing insights into the critical role of counselling and mental health services in the community.
Simon Spearman, Principal at The Henley College said, “It was a really fabulous and great piece of social action which we really liked. What we really liked was that the Counselling Service also came in and gave a talk to some students. So it was both about awareness as well as fundraising.”
Libby Robey President of the Student Union added, “One big thing about The Henley College is they are so in tune with young people and mental health so I think it really paired well with Riverside Counselling. Mental health is so important.”
Adrian Marsh, Chair of Trustees at Riverside Counselling said, “Riverside are really, really pleased with the fundraising efforts of The Henley College and I would like to say a massive thank you to them all. It is brilliant, because it is quite an expensive service to run and we rely on fundraising. It’s really nice, especially in this age group, them finding out more about Riverside and learning that there are counselling services available should anyone of them be struggling with their mental health. We also look forward to having an ongoing partnership with the College and working together closely over the coming years.”
